The 16-track CD is
a flowing journey of consciously deep, strong and moving tunes, which
are played out in a fusion style with a base of tribal house and breakbeat.
UNITED TRIBES amalgamates breakbeat, tribal tech-trance, psychedelic drum
& bass (drum & space) and ambient auras. "UNITED TRIBES portrays the universality
of music and the power it has to harmonise and heal the wonderfully diverse
human differences in a celebratory fashion," Already being hailed as an
unstoppable phenomenon, UNITED TRIBES represents KORU's spiritual quest
to assimilate global influences from collaborators Worldwide. KORU has
been in the UK for 10 years and so has a Brixton-London urban slant to
the overall tribal feel, Sophisticated and raw. Nature with technolgy,
black with white. For this, his second album, KORU has captured vibes
from the internationally acclaimed Jorge Batista (session percussionist
from Basement Jaxx), Joe Cooper (x Morcheeba) and Lewis B (Groove Chronicles).
Other input includes contributions from Kateri, a Canadian Native American
and top Maori rapper Te Kupu. ''One minute you are in the jungle the next
minute you are in the middle of a big city. The technology is fused with
the tribal feeling and hypnotic in a Polynesian dreamstate sort of way''
KORU draws from his conscious travels throughout both the inner and outerworld
with multi-tribal spiritual guidance. "I have this vision of global and
urban dance music combining to promote cultural harmony through a mutual
appreciation of music," said KORU.
The
NEW KORU album is is a varied, innovative, exciting, emotional and beautiful
journey.
Starting dreamy - moving hip and funky it quickly arrives at a tribal
fusion of tec sounds and throbbing rhythms.
Then a live mix of Tribal Symphony - the big, epic Koru thrash
UT then moves into the dubby song based Psychedellic Drum and Bass Sound
- Koru has been pioneering for a few years in top clubs such as Pendragon,
MOS, Fabric.
The album winds down with some deep and moving chilled out beats.
There is a catchy poppy vibe about some of the material - yet never twee
always deep.
United Tribes has involved people from many different cultures - Jamaica,
India, Brazil, France, Italy, Africa, Aoetearoa, England, Malaysia and
Chippenwa (native Canada).
It is an example of how we can all forget our fears of our differences
and unite on a commen love.
This record is the sound of a big night partying in a city, fantastic
days at a summer festival and the precious time spent with close friends
and lovers. Your collection needs this CD.
